Hello There

I am Jonathan Hoff -
a graphic & UI/UX
designer.

About

"Tell me about yourself"

I'm a front-end web developer with a passion for graphic and UX/UI design based and studying in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Howdy!

Proactive tech-enthusiast with a love for problem solving, technical content, and content creation - looking for remote internship opportunities in web design and development. A current junior in the Computer Science program at Clark University, I am designing and developing technical solutions for modern-day problems.

So far during my time at Clark, I have volunteered with CoderDojo to educate children on the benefits and possibilities of learning to code, pioneered the Clark Choirs Livestream Project to take Clark Choirs' performances online, attended hackathons as a part of the STEM initiative TIE, and have plans to do much more.

Outside of the class, I discovered the tech-mentorship platform Gydable and have so far completed two mentorships where I designed and developed two React web apps - one individually and the other as a part of a team. My involvement with Gydable led me to become an ambassador for the platform and I recommend it to anyone looking to get a start in the tech industry. As of right now, I am readily seeking out clients who will hire a freelance design like myself.

Redisc | Spotify Music Personalizer

Branding & Development

Redisc is a personal project of mine that came from wanting to redesign the way Spotify users experience and discover music personalized for them.

Greater Worcester Land Trust Hiking Map

Web Design & Development

New Englanders love the outdoors, myself included. So when I heard my friend Andrew was looking for someone to design an interface for his hiking trail map, I eagerly volunteered. The interface needed to be simple, information had to be accessible, and the website available for desktop and mobile users. In collaboration with GWLT, Andrew and I developed a map that proudly serves New Englanders today.

Quilltly | Story-Building Web Game

Web Development

As a part of the STEM mentorship platform Gydable, myself and two other college students collaborated to develop the story-building game Quilltly, allowing players to build stories with their friends one word, one sentence, or one tweet at a time. Throughout the process the team used React.js, HTML, CSS, and Google's Firebase platform for user-authentication, data storage, and hosting.

Schoolhouse | Event-Sharing Network

Web Development & Design

As a part of my first mentorship with the Gydable platform, I was tasked with creating a React web app that would allow college students to advertise events happening on their campus. Throughout the process, I used HTML, CSS, JavaScript, the React framework, and Firebase for its user-authentication and data storage services.

My Design Philsophy

Efficient. Elegant. Enthusiastic.
Most designers may have an answer when asked, "what's your design style?" And although my actual experience in design work is admittedly limited, I couldn't define my creative ideas beyond what I have in mind every time I sit down to solidify a design—and that is the principles I've mentioned above.
